Cars ‘n’ Girls ‘n’ Bars” is the fifth release from think+sync (t+s) and our second long-player. This time I teamed t+s up with Jane Is Not Afraid (J.I.N.A.) to make it a combined effort.

think+sync records are usually about nights in the city. This time, we decided to make it the holy neon-soaked trinity of cars, girls, and bars. The songs tend to be layered with several perspectives as the boys and the girls play out their roles, which often don’t work out as well as hoped. These are both love songs to nightlife, as well as exposing the underbelly.

t+s ◇ J.I.N.A.

  • Travis Tanner: Music + Lyrics & Vocals
  • Jane Stockwell: Vocals + Lyrics
  • Benedict Roff-Marsh: Production + Lyrics & Occasional Vocals

There was a t+s album underway. Seeing I am the Record Producer, Mix Engineer, etc, for both acts, it just seemed to make sense to have Jane work on a song. The song went so well, added so much, that it seemed silly not to commit the whole way. The more we did, the better it got.

Geisha Bar is a real place in Perth, Western Australia. Travis has been there. It is an EDM club. Jane & I (mostly me) took poetic license in what the place is like – particularly the bits about er, um, pay-to-play activities. I worked in a club owned by the mob when I was a kid. We didn’t have girls working there, but we had lots of working girls (along with drag queens and men with moustaches & leather hats). I learned a lot about how that all works.
