“Stories of Speed” is a loosely themed collection of pieces centered around ideas of the speed of change from state to state. A couple of tracks are relatively literal but most are a bit sideways. Ultimately this is simply the music I made during this time, with these thoughts in my head.
- Delta-V is the energy required to change course. This term is most commonly used with spaceships. The concept though applies to all things as changing direction requires effort (and focus) to overcome the inertia.
- Life of Butterfly reminds us that perception of time is relative. Most butterflies live their whole lives in a couple of weeks.
- Corsa Corso is a play on words thing. Corsa is a sports car and Corso is a road on the waterfront. Therefore, the image is a little fast car driving a winding riverside road.
- Folegandros After the Fishing follows the people as they change pace as they slow down after the morning fishing on this sleepy Greek island.
- Rockslide came from two things crossing my feed: slowed-down mudslides and Hard-Core Punk (that American style). I toyed with the ideas and they went sideways.
- Dream of Leaving As humans we are all too eager to rush to fantasies of freeing ourselves from our chains of misery.
- Speed of Harmony is the complete opposite as we seem to do everything we can to prevent things from coming together. World peace would be easier than pie – if only people weren’t so eager to be un-peaceable. Thankfully in this piece, things come together.
- Sleeper Train to Guangzhou is another of my word plays contrasting sleeping on a high-speed train. I used a Chinese train because I have used Chinese locations a few times over the years (decades).
- For The Man Who Was There – and now is not reminds us that life can pass away so fast. In this particular case, it was the poor man who was shot at the rally where Donald Trump was targeted. In doing his citizen’s duty to participate in voting, this poor man died for nothing. It isn’t a war where such a thing is to be expected.
