1991 – album as Aeroplastic Voice

This started as a band project with Andrew Kuepper (brother of Ed from the The Saints) and Kat Trautweiler under the name of The Museum Action. We only worked together long enough to complete one song “Flags On Bodies” before it was just me again.
I decided to keep the name for the album as it was perfect for the theme of the Gulf War. At the time a real ‘shooting war’ seemed like such a backward step after the Cold War.
The songs were interspersed with recordings of news reports and quotes from people.

Poison Gas is typically blunt with the lyric being from the perspective of a soldier in the trenches facing the prospect of being gassed. The guitar-synth lead is borrowed in concept from AC/DC.
Lessons We Don’t Learn Join The Frontline Force Dumb Android Race is the kind of song title guaranteed not to make friends at parties when someone asks if they’d know any of your songs. They style of the song was based on a record I had from Ollie Olsen’s old band No with a strong dash of Punk and early grunge like Dinosaur Jr. I can’t help but think of this as a fun song.
