2010 – album as Benedict Roff-Marsh
I love melody and pop songs (well at least those from the 80’s) but it seems many people now want less structured, or more experimental, music. This appeals to me in some ways too so I thought for this project I would write something more minimal. Clinical even. I chose architecture as my theme and set to.
The album came together well and I even sent a copy off to a small label in the UK. I got a reply from the owner being impressed but saying that the work was too cold to sell. I took the feedback as encouragement and set to work on Fallen Leaves as a more melodic record. I sent it off but he didn’t reply. Seems like I can’t win.
